Food Security: KWSG To Organize The 4th Kwara Food Summit


The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Partnership with Kwara Agriculture Network, is set to organize the 4th Kwara Food Summit code named "KFS23" to commemorate the 2023 World Food Day.

The event, which is slated for Monday October 16, 2023, at the Kwara State Banquet Hall in Ilorin, is part of the programme of activities lined up to join the rest of the world in promoting awareness of hunger and necessary actions for the future of food, people and the planet. 

The theme of this year's World Food Day is 'Water is Life, Water is Food; Leave no one Behind'. 

The event also has as its sub-theme, 'Harnessing Agricultural Potential in Kwara State: Roles of Agricultural Financing and Technical Advisory Services', whose aim is to stress the importance of Financial Institutions and Technical Advisory Services to the food security of the state and the country at large.

The State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is expected to be the Special Guest of honour at the ceremony, while the Olupako of Share, Oba Haruna Olawale Sulyman would serve as Royal Father of the day.

The Chairman of the Occasion is the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas, with Mr. Al-Mustapha Ibrahim, Executive Chairman; Kwara Agriculture Network (KAN) as Chief Host.

Keynote Speakers expected at the Food Summit are Prof. Lateef Sanni, Executive Director, NSPRI, and Dr. Olufemi Oladunni, Executive Director of ARMTI.

Farmers, Value Chain Operators, Financial Institutions, and other stakeholders in the agric-business are all invited to upscale food production in the state.
