Towoju charges Information Officers on efficient service delivery

The Kwara State Commissioner of Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, has reiterated the importance of Press Secretaries and Information Officers in the dissemination of government's programmes and policies.

Towoju gave this appraisal while speaking with Information Officers at the monthly meeting of the Directorate of Information of the Ministry of Communications, held at the conference room today.

According to him, the job of Information Officers is a crucial one to the development of the state as they are  saddled with the responsibility of creating public awareness about the activities of government.

He added that the government of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is working tirelessly to ensure that civil servants in the state are continuously motivated to give their all to their jobs while stressing that despite limited resources and drastic reduction in the allocation, the governor pays the workers' salaries fully, as and when due.

Towoju urged the officers to always "think Kwara first" and work well to justify the salary they earn.

While responding, the Director of Information Services, Alhaji Ayobami Akanbi, said that the Directorate carries out regular training sessions for the Information Officers to ensure enhanced service delivery.

He said that the services of one of the retired veterans of the Ministry, who is also a seasoned communications specialist, will be engaged, in the coming week, to hold some training sessions with the Information Officers.

This, he added, is being done to ensure that all Information Officers  perform exceptionally well wherever they are posted and succeed in favourably projecting the good image of the government.
